PRIVACY POLICY

At The First National Bank of Groton, your privacy is very important to us. We will take all the necessary steps to safeguard sensitive information that has been entrusted to us by you, our customer. We have developed the following customer privacy principles to safeguard your privacy interests.

Obtaining Information
The First National Bank of Groton collects nonpublic personal information about “you”, our customer, from the following sources:
  • Information we receive from you on applications and forms;
  • Information about your transactions with us or others; and
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.
Employee Access To Information
The First National Bank of Groton employees may be given access to confidential information in the normal course of business. The Bank limits employee access to personally identifiable information to those with legitimate business needs for such information. The Bank thoroughly informs and trains its employees on the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy.

Protecting Access To Information
We have established security procedures and physical and electronic measures to protect against unauthorized access to nonpublic personal financial information.

Maintenance of Accurate Information
The First National Bank of Groton recognizes that it is important to our customers that we maintain the accuracy of information concerning their financial relationships with us, and we have established procedures to maintain the accuracy of the information in accordance with reasonable commercial standards. The procedures include responding in a timely manner to a request from one of our customers to correct any information concerning his or her financial relationships with us that he or she believes is incomplete, not current or otherwise inaccurate and taking steps to correct the information if we determine it to be inaccurate.

Online Privacy Policy
When you are just browsing, we do not collect, capture, or retain personal information. We gather data that is not personally identifiable to you to track web site usage, such as number of hits, pages visited, and the length of user sessions in order to evaluate the usefulness of our site. If you log in to view your accounts or you request information from us by completing a secure online form, our web site will request information such as your email address or your account number. This information allows you to perform certain tasks, such as correspond with us or view your accounts. Also, it allows us to provide the information you requested. In these cases, we collect only the information necessary to interact with you. If you identify yourself by sending an email, or filling forms such as contact us forms, the disclosure of this information is entirely voluntary on your part. If you choose to give it, we will retain the content of the email, your email address, and our response in order to handle any follow-up questions you may have. Information you submit to us is treated no differently than any information you might provide in a written format. Your email address will not be sold, nor will it be shared with others outside the Bank unless we are compelled to do so by law.

Personal information is collected online when you bank online or use Bill Pay. Our business partners who help us deliver these services to you will have access to your personal information. This information is retained on either the First National Bank of Groton's or our partners' systems in order to provide you with the services you have requested.

Cookies are pieces of data assigned by a web server to the browser on your PC. When a user logs into First National Bank of Groton Online Banking, the Web site sends three cookies to their computer. The cookies are only valid for one session; each time a user logs in, they receive a new set of cookies. We use the cookies to ensure that the user has entered a valid Online Banking ID and PIN and to ensure that the user’s session hasn’t timed out.

Disclosure of Information
The First National Bank of Groton will not share and/or sell or otherwise disclose any nonpublic personal information about you to anyone except as follows:
  • The Bank will not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you or anyone except as permitted by law.
For example, we will disclose certain information:  with your consent to complete a customer initiated transaction, as required by law, such as in compliance with a subpoena or court or administrative directive, and as may be appropriate to protect against or prevent actual fraud or unauthorized transactions, and in other legally permitted circumstances.

We may also provide certain information to unaffiliated third party companies that we hire to provide us operational support, that allow us to complete and service transactions for our customers, such as in the making of real estate loans. Examples of these services include, but are not limited to, appraisals, title searches, flood certifications and credit reports.
  • If you decide to close your account(s) or to become an inactive customer, we will adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.
Disclosure of Privacy Policy to Customers
This Privacy Policy is readily available to consumers. If there are any questions or concerns about the protection of personal financial information, we should be contacted.
