Target Security Breach Update

As you have likely heard by now, Target shoppers who made purchases using their debit or credit cards at any Target store between November 27, 2013 and December 15, 2013 may have had their cards compromised. First National Bank of Groton is closely monitoring developments with this recent Target security breach. We have received the reports from Visa for the FNB Groton debit card accounts and from MasterCard for the FNB Groton credit card accounts that were affected by this breach. We are still awaiting the report from Visa for those credit cards affected. You will receive a notification letter if your card has been compromised.

We have already reissued those debit cards named on the Visa list. We will also be reissuing the MasterCard credit cards shortly as well as the Visa credit cards when we get the listing. The new card should be received in about 7 to 10 days, although it might take a bit longer due to the magnitude of the number of reissues to be done. Your current card will be hot carded/closed when you activate your new card OR 31 days from the date of a notification letter. Of course you can call us to have the card closed immediately if you would like.

In the meantime, you can and should closely monitor your accounts during this holiday season and report any suspicious or fraudulent activity immediately.

This did not affect those customers shopping at Target.com. If you are a TargetRED card holder (which debits your Groton Bank checking account directly), please call Target directly for information on the possibility of a breach of those cards.
