What is Groton Bank Online?

Groton Bank Online is The First National Bank of Groton’s new online banking system, available through the Web at my.grotonbank.com or the mobile application, which allows you to access all of your banking information anywhere. The new platform is simpler, more streamlined, more secure and offers more features.

When will Groton Bank Online be available?

Groton Bank Online will be available on February 28th, 2023 via the online banking link on our Website or the new mobile banking apps. You will be prompted to download the new apps when you open our existing apps beginning on that day.

I am a current NetTeller customer. Do I need to re-enroll in Groton Bank Online?

If you are a current NetTeller customer, you do not need to re-enroll in Groton Bank Online. Your existing NetTeller credentials will work with Groton Bank Online. Upon your first login, you will need to set up Two-Factor Authentication on your account.

How do I sign up for Groton Bank Online access?

If you are not a current online banking customer, to sign up for Groton Bank Online you may self-enroll via the mobile app or my.grotonbank.com. Click or tap on “First Time User? Enroll Now” which will walk you through the process that helps you create credentials to use for Groton Bank Online. You will need your Social Security Number, an existing Groton Bank account number, email address and phone number. If you get an error while enrolling we either do not have your email address or phone number on file, or that information is outdated. If this is the case please contact us at (607) 898-5871.

When will I need to convert to Groton Bank Online by?

On April 13, 2023, you will no longer be able to log in to the legacy NetTeller and mobile app. If you haven’t converted by this time you may need to re-enroll in Groton Bank Online.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security feature that requires you to enter an additional, one-time code in order to access your account on new devices. In order to use 2FA, you will need to enter an email address then a phone number. Once you provide this information, you can select to receive your one-time verification codes. using an authentication app called Authy, another authentication app, or by getting the code sent to you via an SMS text message or phone call.

Can I set up more than one two-factor authentication method?

Yes, you can. If you click/tap on your profile image, click/tap on “Settings”, then “Security”, then “Edit Settings” under “Two-Factor Authentication”, you may choose to “Add another method” at the bottom of the screen. You may add additional phone numbers for two-factor authentication this way.

Will my scheduled or recurring transfers on NetTeller be transferred over to Groton Bank Online?

Yes, all of your scheduled and recurring transfers between your accounts will transfer over and continue.You will not need to set them up again.

Will my Bill Pay payees and scheduled payments be transferred over to Groton Bank Online?

Yes, all of your scheduled payments and payees will transfer over and continue.

What type of accounts can I access on Groton Bank Online?

You may access any type of account on the Groton Bank Online platform.

Can another customer access my accounts?

No. The only customers who can access your accounts are those listed on the account.

What type of actions can I perform on Groton Bank Online?

You may perform the following transactions on the Groton Bank Online platform: View account balances and activity; transfer funds between your own accounts; manage debit cards; deposit checks (mobile only); pay bills (for a small monthly fee); view statements; submit stop payments (Web only); view messages from and send messages to the Bank; view spending habits; get alerts on account and card activity.

What is the cost for this service?

There is no fee for the Groton Bank Online service. There may be a fee for add-on features, including Bill Pay.

How can I view my account statements in Groton Bank Online?

You can view your statements by either clicking or tapping on the ‘Documents’ icon on your dashboard, or clicking the ‘documents’ item within a specific account.

How many months of statements can I view via Groton Bank Online?

The system will collect and retain six months of statements; however, it will not start collecting until you have enrolled in eStatements.

I’ve forgotten my password. How do I reset it?

If you click on ‘forgot’ on the sign in screen you will be guided through the process of resetting your password.

I’ve become blocked or locked out of the system. What do I do?

If you become blocked or locked out of the system, please contact the Bank’s help desk during our normal banking hours.

Will you send unsolicited emails that contain links?

No, the Bank will never send you an unsolicited email that contains links.

Will you send me an email that asks for private information?

No, the bank will NEVER send you an email that will ask for private information like account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers, etc

What is NetTeller?

NetTeller is The First National Bank of Groton’s online banking system.

How do I sign up for NetTeller access?

To sign up for NetTeller access, you will need to stop in at either office and fill out a form and select which accounts you would like to have online access to.

I am a current NetTeller customer. How do I add new accounts to my NetTeller profile?

When you open a new account, just inform the Customer Service Representative that you would like the account to be added to your NetTeller profile.

What type of accounts can I access on NetTeller?

You may access any type of account on the NetTeller system.

Can another customer access my accounts?

No. The only customers who can access your accounts are those listed on the account.

What type of transactions can I perform on NetTeller?

You may perform the following transactions on the NetTeller system: Account inquiry; transfer funds between your own accounts; pay bills (for a small monthly fee); view statements; post questions to the Bank; and view rates.

What is the cost for this service?

For the basic online banking service, there is no fee.

How long does it take for my profile to be set up for use?

We will try our best to have your profile set up by 5:00 pm the same day, if we receive your application by 2:00 pm. If we receive the application after 2:00 pm it will be set up within 1 business day.

How many months of statements can I view via NetTeller?

The system will collect and retain six months of statements; however, it will not start collecting until you have enrolled in NetTeller.

Why are there three different sets of questions to verify my identity?

The set of three questions asked during the first sign on is used by the system to verify your identity if the system has detected you are doing something out of the ordinary based on your specific habits.

The personal question and answer on the “option” screen is used by the system when you have forgotten your password and choose to use the “self reset” process.

The question and answer that the Bank asks for is used by Bank employees to verify your identity. This may be used for other Bank business other than NetTeller (such as requesting information over the phone).

How often will I have to change my password?

As a security measure, you will be required to change your password every six months.

I’ve forgotten my password. How do I reset it?

To reset your password, you may do one of two things. First, you may call the Bank during our normal banking hours for assistance. If you choose not to do this or it is outside our normal hours, you may choose to use the NetTeller system’s self reset option on the logon screen.

How does the password self reset process work?

You will need to know your NetTeller ID and email address that you signed up with. The system will send you an email containing a link that will assist you in selecting a new password.

I’ve become blocked or locked out of the system. What do I do?

If you become blocked or locked out of the system, please contact the Bank’s help desk during our normal banking hours.

Can I place a stop payment over the NetTeller system?

No, you will need to contact the Bank to place a stop payment.

Will you send unsolicited emails that contain links?

No, the Bank will never send you an unsolicited email that contains links.

Will you send me an email that asks for private information?

No, the bank will NEVER send you an email that will ask for private information like account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers, etc.

Bill Pay FAQs

How do I sign up for Bill Pay?

To sign up for Bill Pay, you can click on the ‘Bill Pay’ option on the left navigation pane of Groton Bank Online, which will then guide you through the process of enrolling for Bill Pay.

Do I have to sign up for Bill Pay at the same time I sign up for NetTeller access?

No, you do not need to sign up at the same time. You may sign up at any time after after enrolling in Groton Bank Online.

How much does Bill Pay cost?

When you sign up for Bill Pay, the first six months are free. After the first six months a $2.95 per account per month fee will be charged to your Bill Pay account.

How will my bills be paid?

If a company is included in the electronic database, an electronic payment will be posted to your checking account the same day it is authorized if done before 1:00 PM and will be applied to your bill within 3-4 business days. If a company is not included in the electronic database, a check payment will be made.  A physical check will be generated and mailed to the company to pay your bill.  The check will clear your account just like a regular check written from your checkbook. This can take from 5-7 business days.

Can I make a person-to-person transfer

Yes, you can make a person-to-person transfer within Bill Pay. You will either need the recipient’s phone number and email address, or their bank’s routing number and their account number.
